Discover Berber life on a 3-day tour between Marrakech and Merzouga with the Excursion to the Waterfalls of Ouzzoud. Enjoy a camel safari, stay at a Bedouin camp, see stunning sunsets and sunrises, and visit the Todra Gorge and the Kasbahs of Ouarzazate.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Dades Gorges
Start with a pickup truck and drive through valleys and deserts, enjoying views of the Atlas Mountains. Pass by the Tizi n’Tichka, the highest pass in North Africa, known for its breathtaking views. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, with a regional guide, and enjoy lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Kasbah (cost not included). Continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, and possibly visit the film studios. Discover Kasbah Taourirte, another UNESCO site, before heading to the Dades Gorge. Stop at a local cooperative in the Valley of Roses that produces rose water. Spend the night in a hotel or Riad in the Dades Gorges.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – Camel Ride
After breakfast, you will head to the Todra Gorge, which is very popular with climbing enthusiasts. Visit the Todra Gorge and the Palm Oasis, then follow the ancient caravan routes to the Sahara. We’ll pass fortified villages with pre-Saharan architecture and arrive at Erfoud, known for its rich black marble fossils. Continue to Merzouga, where you’ll be greeted with a mint tea. Camel ride through the dunes of Erg Chebbi and watch the sunset. Dinner in a Berber camp, followed by a night around the fire with the traditional Berber drums.
Day 3: Merzouga – High Atlas – Marrakech
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 to meet your driver. Start of the return journey to Marrakech, with stops for lunch and breaks (lunch not included).
